35 things I wish that I could tell a younger ME.

These are in no particular order, but as I enter my 35th year of life, I can’t help but think of a few of the things that I wish I knew then.. Not that I have regrets necessarily, but just reflecting.. Though these are from my perspective, they can actually probably be applied to your life as well.. #ENJOY.

#GodFIRST.

Spend more time becoming who God wants you to be
and less time trying to become who people want you to be.

Don’t mess around with Sallie Mae..
she’s a nasty trick.

One day you will have two daughters..
treat every woman exactly how you want men to treat them in the future.

Some people will just want to be around you because of what you do..
not who you are.. dont give them a moment of your time..

Heartbreak hurts..
Be careful who you love and who you let love you.

Keep your eyes open..
you’ll see MORE.. sooner.

Take the internship at Def Soul..
You never know.

Spend more time than money.

EVERYBODY didnt like Jesus.. so why would you expect everybody to like YOU?
It’s okay if they don’t..

Quality over Quantity.. ALWAYS.

Be you, unapologetically.
Your passion and drive will open doors because of who you really are not who you pretend to be..

Find opportunities to inspire others.. you don’t have to be huge to make a huge impact.. a marble can kill you if dropped from a skyscraper.

Your body is a temple.

What people WANT and what they DESERVE are very different.

That 1981 Buick Riviera is gonna be a classic car..
Don’t get rid of it.. [you’ll regret it..] keep it CLEAN.

Be about your business early..
Don’t let people hold you back or discredit your ideas because of your age.

Invest in Apple.. 
(but use that money to purchase Android products).

Keep working out/playing basketball more often than not..
It’s harder to get it off than it is to keep it off from the start.

Learn what it feels like to lose..
Then work to never feel that ever again..

Don’t trust her..
Hips don’t lie, but mouths do.

Do more in the community..
Use your gifts to be a present for others.

Drive slow. Literally..
It will save you a lot of money.
Besides everything looks better in slow motion.

Smile more.
Don’t allow the nouns to steal your joy.

Heal.

Learn to listen.
You don’t know everything and you never will..
Especially if you only hear yourself.

Don’t stop playing the upright bass..
More importantly, take it seriously - Practice!

Debt isn’t sexy.
Stay away from those credit cards..

Love yourself.. 
Even when others don’t. 

Take your time young man, don’t you rush to get old.

Never invest more in people than they are willing to invest in themselves.

Don’t live your life to please others..
THEY’LL be happy, but YOU’LL be miserable.

You don’t have to say EVERYTHING that you think..
It’s just not necessary.. Be peaceful.

Don’t waste a day.. Tomorrow isn’t promised..
But with that said, don’t spend every moment working..
Life is for LIVING.
